 \n\nRecognizing the importance of art\, education\, and social activism—
 Dr. James E. Conyers Sr. (Professor of Sociology) established the John J. 
 Laska Memorial Fund to support a yearly event that explores the intersecti
 on between the power of art and social issues. This year we will use part 
 of this fund to have Tiffany perform at the church. \n\nAmerican soprano\
 , Tiffany Herring Rufini\, began her musical studies in her hometown of Te
 rre Haute\, IN\, as a pianist\, and trumpet player. She graduated from the
  Interlochen Arts Academy high school as a piano student. She studied pian
 o and voice at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music\, and opera at the Indian
 a University Jacobs School of Music. She developed her voice with renowned
  performers and teachers of singing\, including Richard Miller\, Giorgio T
 ozzi\, Silvia Sass\, and Aprile Millo\, and has performed in the United St
 ates\, South America\, Europe\, and North Africa.\nHer repertoire spans th
 e bel canto\, lyric\, and dramatic\, including operas such as La Traviata\
 , La Bohème\, Norma\, Madama Butterfly\, Tosca\, Cavalleria Rusticana\, B
 luebeard’s Castle\, and Die Walküre.\nIn 2013\, Ms. Herring was awarded
  the Knight’s Cross Hungarian Order of Merit by the President of the Rep
 ublic of Hungary\, after her performances of Béla Bartók’s opera “Bl
 uebeard’s Castle” in the original Hungarian language\, in Rome\, Bolog
 na\, Moscow\, and New York City.\n\n&nbsp\;
